Mitsuru Arai
VP and Director, Asian Section - Japan
He is chairman of the Japan Explosives Society and has been acting as judge at the fireworks contest of Omagari, which is one of the best fireworks competitions in Japan, since 2007, and at the fireworks contest of Sumida River which is one of the most prestigious fireworks competitions in Japan. Since he likes to enjoy a fireworks show with good wine, he always complains that they do not offer any wine during those contests at all. He has been involved in the Symposium since Malta, 2012.

Maude Furtado
VP and Director, Canada and US Section
Maude has black powder running in her veins, being the daughter of Canadian pyrotechnic pioneer Frank Furtado. She has been GFA Pyro’s General Manager since 2009. Maude was eighteen when she fired her first big show, and has been working alongside her father from the early days, initiating and putting in place International Competitions, and now as GM, focusing on building the company’s reputation on the world stage. The ISF benefits from her insight, thoroughness, human and management skills.

Paul Csukassy
VP and Director, Canada and US Section
Paul graduated from the École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1996 as a mechanical engineer specializing in design. While still a student, he began working for the Montreal International Pyrotechnic Competition, becoming a team leader in 1994, and in 1998 became Technical Director of this most prestigious pyrotechnic competition in the world. In 1999, his engineering skills were put to good use in the design of a personalized firing network for the competition site. In 2000, he coordinated the Montreal Millennium Fireworks, one of the largest fireworks shows in Quebec. His passion for fireworks has continued to grow since then, as has his involvement with the CPC (Canadian Pyrotechnic Council). He has participated in almost all the International Symposia on Fireworks since 1998. Currently, Paul is Technical Director of the Fireworks & Entertainment department at Parc Six Flags Montreal. He actively participates in the metamorphosis of fireworks and its eco-responsible shift.
